My name is Richard Day and I am an independant watchmaker in Wimbledon, Southwest London.
My timekeeping journey is a most unusual one...in 2016, I survived an out of hospital heart attack and cardiac arrest. I was 46 years old. The chance of survival in this situation is very poor...however due to my wife's presence, I not only survived, but recovered to a remarkable level. The experience caused me to reconsider some things and I turned to explore a new area of interest in my life; watchmaking.
Watchmaking is my 2nd act, so thank you for playing even a small role by looking at my website and considering one of my watches.
My watch case is my own design and I make them by hand in my workshop, which was originally set up to make traditional refracting telescopes. My designs are made in very small numbers, use a quality Japanese movement, and are designed and made to not only tell the time, but also be an art display piece on your wrist.
Please have a look around my website and see how my astronomical past has influenced my watch design and work. Please also check out my Instagram feed for workshop news and relevant updates on current build progress.
Special thanks to C. Hanvey / Instagram @bespokenlounge.watch for allowing me to use a couple of his superb images.
